What the site is for
Planning a loft conversion means answering the same questions again and again: what it will cost, whether it needs planning permission, which council deals with your street, and who to ask for a quote. The answers are spread across council websites, government guidance and cost guides. This site brings them together for Berkshire, with the sources shown so you can check them.
How we work
- We are an introduction service, not a building firm. We pass enquiries, with your permission, to up to three local specialists. How it works.
- We show our sources. Costs, house prices, conservation areas and council fees come from published data: the ONS, HM Land Registry, the VOA, GOV.UK, council websites and established cost guides. Every guide and town page lists its sources.
- We keep it up to date. Each page shows when it was last reviewed, and we update the figures as new data is published.
- We are not experts in building. Our technical guides summarise official guidance plainly, and we plan to have them checked by an independent professional. Always confirm your own project with a qualified specialist and your council.
